Holland Taylor was born in 1943 to Virginia, a painter and C. Tracy Taylor, an attorney. She has two siblings and she’s the youngest of all. Her other sisters are named Patricia and Pamela.   Holland Taylor joined Westtown School, a Quaker boarding school. In 1964, Holland majored in drama at Bennington College. She next moved to New York City to chase her dream to become an actress.

She made her acting debut through theatre. During 1960, 1970s and 1980s, Holland Taylor was seen in several Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.     Her most notable roles were on Butley and A.R. Gurney’s “The Cocktail Hour’.

In 1983, the lady was seen in ‘Breakfast with Les and Bess’ and that performance was on of her great theatrical moments. From 1978 to 1979, she was seen portraying the purely evil Denise Cavanaugh on the long running soap opera, ‘The Edge of Night’. Her next appearances were on 1980s sitcom Bosom Buddies and in 1984, she made a breakthrough performance on the film ‘Romancing the Stone’. At that stage of her acting career, she finally decided to settle in California. The lady is equally adapt at comedy and at drama and this surely makes her distinct among the rest. During 1992-93, Holland Taylor was seen in Norman Lear’s The Powers That Be.     Holland was seen in The Naked Truth during 1995-98. Her next appearance was on ‘The Practice’ portraying the character of Judge Roberta Kittleson. Her brilliant performance led her to be nominated for Emmy award and she won the award for the best supporting actress’ category.

Holland joined the cast of ‘Two and a Half Men’ in 2003, the time when series was premiered. In the 2001 movie ‘’Legally Blonde’, she was seen playing a legal professional. During 1999-2001, Holland portrayed Hedda Hopper esque Letitia Devine on ‘The Lot’ and this role also helped her to win a nomination for Emmy Award. Among her recurring and guest appearances are- ER, Veronica’s Closet, and recurring roles on Monk and as billionaire Peggy Peabody on The L Word.

The lady has names of some animated series in her acting credits such as Disney’s Cinderella II and Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.

In her free hours, she likes to spend her time to finish the extensive research and writing of a one woman play, supposed to be produced in 2009.
